Avalon

Avalon, located 35 kilometers north of the Sydney Central Business District, is a beachside suburb. Arthur J Small gave the suburb its name, which is from the mythical Avalon, a legendary island from Celtic Mythology. According to the legend, Avalon was an earthly paradise and the final resting place of King Arthur. It has a population of almost 11,000. The beaches in Avalon have a 25 meter salt water rock pool at the south end. The beach itself is famous for surfing and attracts enthusiasts of the sport. In the late 1990s, producers of the television show Baywatch, seeking to relocate from their California base, shot an episode on the pristine beach of Avalon. However, the transfer was not pushed through after getting complaints from residents of the area. Avalon is a perfect getaway for a weekend on the beach basking in the sun and experiencing the waves!
